Speaker Series at Lake Louisa State Park Featuring Kathy Malone, Butterfly Expert
As part of their fourth Friday speakers series, the Friends of Lake Louisa State Park welcome Kathy Malone to the park on Friday, March 28th at 7:00pm.
Kathy Malone recently retired from the University of Florida in Gainesville where she developed the Community ButterflyScaping concept as the builder and developer coordinator for Florida- Friendly Landscaping(TM). Also while at UF, she co-authored a national science curriculum, Project Butterfly WINGS: Winning Investigative Network for Great Science. Kathy founded two Florida chapters of the North American Butterfly Association and is an avid butterfly photographer. She coordinated surveys of rare butterflies for the Florida Natural Areas Inventory. She worked at the South Florida Water Management District for nearly 20 years and authored the first edition of their award-winning recreation guide to public lands. Kathy has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UF, and a master’s in education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She hails from High Springs, a small community near Gainesville.
This is a free event open to the public. Donations are always welcomed to help the Friends raise funds to construct and ADA accessible limitless playground at the park for all in the community to enjoy. Space is limited for this event, so please RSVP to (352) 394-3969.
