About Us
The Friends of Lake Louisa State Park, Inc. is a Citizen Support Organization (CSO) organized to provide support for the preservation, protection, interpretation, and promotion of Lake Louisa State Park through events and activities which include Equine events such as obstacle challenges and other outdoor activites such as Nature Festivals and CSO 5k Race. Monthly meetings are held at the park administrative offices on the second Monday of each month at 6:30pm.
As a non-profit organization, The Friends relies on members, volunteers, and donations to fulfill its mission to “enhance the park and actively engage community support.”
Lake Louisa State Park is a 4,372-acre (17.69 km2) Florida State Park located south of Clermont, in the northeast corner of the Green Swamp and the southwestern shore of Lake Louisa. The park has two entrances: the western one is off County Route 561 on Lake Nellie Road, and the eastern one is 7 miles (11 km) south of State Road 50 on U.S. 27. It is made up of bald cypress, live oak and saw palmettos. In addition to Lake Louisa, the park contains Hammond Lake, Dixie Lake, Dude Lake and Bear Lake.
Activities include swimming, picnicking, horeseback riding, hiking, camping, fishing, and canoeing. Amenities include a canoe/kayak ramp, 16 miles (26 km) of equestrian trails, and a primitive equestrian campground, as well as a 0.5-mile (0.80 km) nature trail, 20 miles (32 km) of hiking trails, fishing pier, canoe/kayak launch, and a picnic pavilion. The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown year round.
Lake Louisa State Park is located on US 27, seven (7) miles south of State Road 50.
